The game that started the Dark Souls craze won't be getting a sequel despite any rumors that may be floating around.
Atlus PR manager John Hardin responded to a comment on the PlayStation Blog, saying, "[I] can 100 percent confirm there will NOT be a Demon Souls 2."
Atlus published the dark-fantasy action role-playing game Demon's Souls exclusively for PlayStation 3 in 2009. It took off in popularity — largely due to its brutally difficult gameplay — but developer From Software switched publishers to release a multiplatform spiritual successor called Dark Souls in 2011.
Fans have been speculating that Sony, which owns the intellectual property and published it in Japan, could be planning a sequel to Demon's Souls.
Dark Souls 2 is slated to arrive on March 11.
