Atlus has announced its intentions to continue North American server support for Demon's Souls.
The publisher had previously decided to cancel the servers on May 31. In a press release sent today, Atlus said it would extend support for "the foreseeable future."
Tim Pivnicny, VP of marketing and sales, explained the last-minute change.
"We're incredibly excited to be able to announce that the Demon's Souls online experience will persist for a while longer," he said. "While it originally seemed as though it would be unfeasible for us to continue to sustain the servers, a number of developments have made it possible for us to continue to invest in and support our fans as they have continued to invest in and support us and Demon's Souls."
Provided user activity and interest remain strong, Atlus may consider keeping the game online with additional extensions, as they've done in the past.
