Atmospheric nuclear disaster survival-RPG Chernobylite out now on PC

The Farm 51’s ambitious first-person adventure project Chernobylite has launched in Early Access for PC. The game is available on Steam and GOG for a tempting budget price of just $29.99. Check out the launch trailer!

The Chernobyl nuclear disaster is arguably the biggest man-made disaster of all time, at least in terms of post-accident ramifications. Future generations will still have to deal with the results of this disaster. A huge deserted area where remnants of the past are conserved like in a time bubble and the ever-looming invisible threat of radiation has been the topic of many games ever since. The most prominent game that takes place in Chernobyl is the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy. The mix of eerie atmosphere and a scary journey has cemented these games as cult classics. But sadly,  fans are still waiting for a worthy successor.

It’s a science-fiction survival horror experience, mixing the free exploration of its disturbing world with challenging combat, unique crafting, and non-linear storytelling. Play as a physicist, one of the Chernobyl Power Plant’s ex-employees, and investigate the mysterious disappearance of your beloved. Try to survive and reveal the contamination zone’s twisted secrets. Remember, the military presence is not your only concern.

Chernobylite is the game that might take over the helm as the Chernobyl game to beat. Unlike S.T.A.L.K.E.R., it focuses on story and characters. All points where S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fell short. Developer The Farm 51 are self-publishing their game and the passion and dedication really shows. Chernobyl and its nearby areas are presented in never-before-seen detail. The game is out now on Steam and GOG as an Early Access title, and the developer is promising future updates to add new locations, story episodes and much more. With this first initial release, gamers can look forward to an adventure that spans 8 hours of survival and non-linear storytelling.
