August NPD Results Show That 360 Is Still Going Strong

The August NPD results are in, and console sales are down from July. The Xbox 360 is still at the top of the hardware list thanks to the redesign, while the DS is just a bit behind it. The Wii is seeing some lower numbers, and Sony’s systems are trailing behind the competition:

Xbox 360 – 356.7K

Nintendo DS – 342.7K

Wii – 244.3K

PlayStation 3 – 226K

PSP – 79.4K

Meanwhile, on the software side, Madden had a great month on both the 360 and PS3. Super Mario Galaxy II is still going strong, and somehow New Super Mario Bros. for the DS, a game that was released in 2006, is still in the top five.

1) Madden NFL 11 (360) – 920.8K

2) Madden NFL 11 (PS3) – 893.6K

3) Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) – 124.6K

4) Mafia II (360) – 121.6K

5) New Super Mario Bros. (DS) – 110.4K

6) New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)

7) Mafia II (PS3)

8) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (360)

9) NCAA Football 11 (360)

10) Wii Fit Plus (Wii)
