Avatar director finally admits he “overwrote”

Five movies is a bit much...

Earlier this year James Cameron droppped a bomb on Avatar fans, there would be no trilogy for the franchise – there would be much more. Cameron and his team are planning to releases Avatar 2 in December 2018, followed by three more sequels in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The first two words that arise upon hearing this news might be "how" or "why." There's no real answer to this other than Cameron being unable to stop writing.

“The Avatar story arc was originally meant to be a trilogy, but I overwrite and my writers overwrote as well,” Cameron told Variety. “But basically the first of the sequels cloned itself and became two films, so now it’s four films, and the studio’s very happy with it. They have an opportunity to make more money but it’s also an opportunity to spend a lot more money, too, so there’s a clench factor.”

There, he said it, he overwrote. Strap yourselves in folks, we are going on an Avatar ride and the escape is around six years away.
