Avowed will be larger than Skyrim according to new insider leak

Coming late 2022 or early 2023

A massive leak by an insider has blown the lid off Obsidian’s just recently unveiled first-person action-RPG Avowed. According to the leak, the next-gen title will be larger than The Elder Scroll: Skyrim, in terms of density and activities, and is set to come out towards the tail end of 2022 at the earliest.

Twitter user ‘Joe_Sinister’ shared the leaks he found via an industry insider called  ‘Sponger’. The part that makes this leak credible is that well-known Xbox insider ‘Klobrille’ has verified that Sponger is a legit insider. Still, even the best insiders can be dead wrong sometimes, so take these pieces of information with a grain of salt.

The only real details we have about Avowed just recently came into light when Obsidian Entertainment unveiled it during the recent Xbox Game Showcase. It was one of the highlights of the show despite only showing a CG trailer but it immediately made clear for everyone that Avowed means business.

The first-person action-RPG set in the fantastical world of Pillars of Eternity. Obsidian’s other RPG franchise that has won over the hearts with its focus on old-school isometric RPG. As such, there is already a depth of lore to explore for Avowed. The perspective of it however has led to the game quickly being coined as an Elder Scrolls killer among fans. It’s true, the similarities between the two games are eerie and Obsidian has already proven that they can easily stand toe to toe with Bethesda with the excellent Fallout New Vegas.

According to the new leak, Avowed will also feature realtime weather system, various in-game factions, companions you’ll be able to recruit, deep modding support, and more. Alongside the game features, Obsidian is reportedly focusing on creating a true next-gen experience with a focus on a reactive world that includes physics and lighting.

With no proper new Elder Scrolls on the horizon, for now, it sure sounds like Bethesda needs to be very careful to keep their throne of first-person fantasy-RPG kings. Especially, with their image taking a hefty crack after the entier Fallout 76 launch.
