The date that Marty McFly is actually the same day that the Back to the Future trilogy Blu-ray set and films hit theaters (again).
By time October 21st comes around, the entire Back to the Future trilogy will be showing in select theaters. The trilogy won't be available in every theater, checking local listings will play a key role in whether or not you get to see the films in theaters.
The Blu-ray set that's set to launch on the anniversary of the day Marty went back to the future not only has the three films, but also has the animated series. Back to the Future made its initial release in 1985 starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. It made $383 million (worldwide) the first year it released, which is an insane amount of money, but child's play next to the $1.5 billion (worldwide) The Avengers grossed during its theatrical release in 2012.
