Balls of Glory Pinball releases for assorted platforms, Wii U fate unknown

Zen Studios has been in top form lately, with the steady release of licensed pinball tables based on Marvel and Star Wars properties. The team's recent dabbles in offerings based on TV shows has brought us to Balls of Glory Pinball, releasing this week as an add-on in Zen Pinball 2 and Pinball FX2 (console, mobile, PC), and a standalone pack (mobile, Mac).

The collection features four tables based on hit Twentieth Century Fox shows — Archer, Family Guy, American Dad, and Bob's Burgers. Last year's show-based offerings were headlined by The Walking Dead Pinball and South Park Pinball, making Balls of Glory a continuation of a welcome creative direction for the team.

PS3, PS4 and Vita players in North America can purchase the pack from the PlayStation Store today. Those in Europe will get the pack tomorrow, as will Pinball FX2 players on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Steam and PC. Those preferring on-the-go pinball wizardry can purchase the pack on their mobile platform of choice as of this Thursday.

As it stands, Zen Studios has yet to announce a date for the Wii U version (or Mac, for that matter), prompting GameZone to touch base with the team to learn more. But Zen Studios wasn't ready to confirm if Balls of Glory will be coming to the Wii U at all.

"We’ve been supporting the Wii U for some time now, regularly providing updates to Zen Pinball 2 on the platform, and have no plans to stop now," said communications director Steven Hopper. "While I can’t comment on the specifics of the Balls of Glory pack and whether or not we will be able to bring it to [Zen Pinball 2] on Wii U, we will certainly alert the community if and when the opportunity arises." Hopper added that the same is true of Portal Pinball, which Wii U players sadly still have yet to experience.

Last year, South Park Pinball arrived on Wii U more than a month after it released on other platforms. Perhaps a similar length of wait time can be anticipated, barring any logistical issues.
