Bandai Namco brings Tamagotchi back for your Apple Watch

Bandai Namco first released the Tamagotchi in 1996 exclusively in Japan. Since then the little egg-shaped keychain digital pet has sold over 76 million Tamagotchis worldwide. If you were around in the late 90's and early 2000's, you know these little three button houses of death.

Inevitabely you would forget about the little pet that you hatched, bathed, picked up after, fed, played with and raised. One day, you would hear the gentle wail of it's death – ignored in between couch seats.

With all of our technology today, it's time for Tamagotchi to come back!

Bandai Namco has re-released the original Tamagotchi game as a $0.99 app for the Apple Watch. The game will allow you to use the age-old care methods:  Give them food, flush their droppings, play with them and all the other fun things you did with your Tamagotchi.

The Apple Watch app comes with two modes, Toy Mode and App Mode. Toy Mode recreates the game's original look and App Mode brings it to life in new colors. Beware though, it will be on your wrist (as the Apple Watch is intended) so if it calls to you, you won't be able to feign that your too far away to rescue it from impending death.

This time, the Tamagotchi owns you.
