Banjo Kazooie spiritual successor will rely on core 3D platformer mechanics and Kickstarter

It has been just over a month since we first heard that the Banjo Kazooie spiritual successor (Project Ukulele) is being developed by a bunch of former Rare developers that have grouped up to form Playtonic Games. The developers took to the EGX Rezzed event to announce a couple of features that they will be focusing on for the game, screenshots, and how they plan to lean on the community.

The 3D platformer will take on Rare's "signiture" '90's gameplay and humor, but will build upon it with new technology:

"We're not looking to just rehash games from our past, we want to take advantage of big technology leaps since the last time we made a 3D platform game, which was fifteen years ago," said Gavin Price, the studio's co-founder.

The developers have confirmed that the game will not stray away from the core mechanics of the Banjo series like games in the past have (I'm looking at you Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts). Project Ukulele will be hitting Kickstarter soon enough, as the developers have seen the communities excitement for the game and want to build it with the community in mind.
