Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee goes gold; Gets platform details

We first learned of the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee, from a team of former Rare developers back in February 2015. The game hit Kickstarter in May 2015 and was fully funded within an hour of hitting the crowdsourcing platform and now the developers at Playtonic have hit the next major step in creating the game – going gold!

It's been almost two years since the Kickstarter campaign for Yooka-Laylee and since it has been so long since the original campaign and more platforms have been added, a BackerKit survey will be released to allow all backers to make the final adjustment to their purchase.

This survey will allow backers to upgrade to a physical version of PS4 and Xbox One versions, as well as seek a refund if the canceled Wii U version was purchased. Wii U owners have the option of choosing a different platform for the game, including the Nintendo Switch version.

Note: If you backed a Wii U version of Yooka-Laylee and do not choose a new platform you will be locked into a digital PC version for Steam. Upgrading to a physical version of Yooka-Laylee for Xbox One or PS4 will involve an upgrade fee.

Yooka-Laylee is set to release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on April 11th. The game will also release for the Nintendo Switch at some point in the future.
