The spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee, hit Kickstarter today and was fully funded within the hour of its launch. Yooka-Laylee is well on its way to hitting stretch goals if the money keeps pouring in. And many of them sound pretty amazing, so if you're at all interested, make sure to back the game.
Full disclosure, I myself have backed the title as I was a huge fan of Banjo-Kazooie.
The game, previously code-named Project Ukulele (you can see they kept the Ukulele sound for the title of the game) will be developed with Rare's "signature" '90's gameplay and humor, and will keep the core 3D platforming game mechanics from the Banjo series. The feeling of a '90's game won't be too hard for the team to achieve. The developers are a mix of former Rare employees that brought us both Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country!
If you choose to back the Kickstarter, $15 will get you a copy of the game on Steam and $23 will get you a console edition of the game (Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One).
The main character of the game are Yooka the chameleon and Laylee the bat. Together the duo will embark on an all-new platforming adventure. The game is currently slated for an October 2016 release, which is quite a long ways away.
