If you've been having troubles connecting to any of Blizzard's games via Battle.net over the past two days, you're not alone. Players across Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft 2, and Hearthstone have been having the same issues.
The server issues appear to have begun at some point yesterday. After a series of complaints, Blizzard's official customer support Twitter account revealed that a DDoS attack was the reason behind issues players were experiencing.
Blizzard had resolved yesterday's issues, only be met with yet another DDoS attack this morning. Two hours after announcing the DDoS attack (seen below), they reported the issue to be resolved.
Three hours ago, Blizzard report yet another DDoS attack, which has since been resolved (as of two hours ago).
Unfortunately, it appears as though this is a trend of attack and resolve. If the cycle continues, there will be another DDoS attack shortly. Why is this happening and who is doing it?
Well, we haven't seen anyone outright claim responsibility, but earlier this month Blizzard sent out a second wave of bans in Overwatch. The banhammer took out a ton of players using Triggerbot and these DDoS attacks are likely due to jilted players.
Nothing says "I didn't deserve to be banned" like a good ol' DDoS attack.
