PlayStation 4-exclusive Basement Crawl, originally due out last month, will now be released on February 25 in North America, indie studio Bloober Team announced today. It'll be available in Europe a day later on February 26.
“After our slight delay, we’re truly excited to deliver a completed and enhanced Basement Crawl to the more than 5.3 million PlayStation 4 owners around the world,” added Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno. “There really is no other game like Basement Crawl, a game that both revives the classic fun of crushing your friends face-to-face while also allowing international battles for supremacy. If you want to prove you’re a better gamer than your friends, Basement Crawl is the ultimate measure.”
You may recognize Basement Crawl from its disturbing cast of creepy characters and blood-curdling environments. In terms of gameplay, it combines Bomberman-style maze-based mayhem with "high intensity" action, featuring explosive traps and "potent" multiplayer competition that can be enjoyed locally or online.
As I mentioned, Basement Crawl was supposed to release last month when Bloober Team announced its delay in the wake of "several exciting opportunities with major industry players to enhance, refine and add-to the game." At the time, Bloober Team was said to be taking "full advantage" of those opportunities, though nothing in today's announcement even references new features.
Regardless, Basement Crawl will be available for download via PlayStation Network for $9.99.
