Batman: Arkham Knight first PC patch available now

Warner Bros has announced the first patch for the disastrous PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. The game's launch this past Tuesday was so riddled with bugs, that the company was forced to cease all future sales of the game and issue refunds to those who wanted once the patch was released. The studio's community manager noted on the official forums earlier today that these fixes are "significant", but that it will also take some time to get the Arkham Knight's fixes in place. The following fixes are available immediately providing you have the game installed:

  • Fixed a crash that was happening for some users when exiting the game
  • Fixed a bug which disabled rain effects and ambient occlusion. We are actively looking into fixing other bugs to improve this further
  • Corrected an issue that was causing Steam to re-download the game when verifying the integrity of the game cache through the Steam client
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when turning off Motion Blur in BmSystemSettings.ini. A future patch will enable this in the graphics settings menu
Now that this patch is complete, the next issues that are taking priority for PC players will include some gameplay features such as framerate and resolutuion, but for the most part include back end fixes:
  • Support for frame rates above 30FPS in the graphics settings menu
  • Fix for low resolution texture bug
  • Improve overall performance and framerate hitches
  • Add more options to the graphics settings menu
  • Improvements to hard drive streaming and hitches
  • Address full screen rendering bug on gaming laptop
  • Improvements to system memory and VRAM usage
  • NVIDIA SLI bug fixes
  • Enabling AMD Crossfire
  • NVIDIA and AMD updated drivers
The policy regarding refunds remains in effect and is available now that the first patch has been issued for the game. Although the studio has said that sales for the PC version have ceased indefinitely until all the fixes are resolved, we were still able to purchase a copy at the time of this writing.
We'll keep you updated with the newest patches as they are released.
