Despite issues plaguing the PC version of the game, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's Batman: Arkham Knight was the top-selling game in the United States for June 2015, according to the NPD Group's monthly sales report.
The report reveals that sales of Arkham Knight "slightly exceeded" October 2011 sales of Batman: Arkham City, which NPD Group's Liam Callahan calls "remarkable considering the difference in hardware install base."
With rave reviews, Arkham Knight, with just 12 days of sales, has become the second highest-selling game so far in 2015, trailing only Mortal Kombat X. However Callahan notes that "if sales were included from hardware bundles, Arkham Knight is the best-selling game of 2015 so far."
The NPD report also notes that the PlayStation 4 version of Arkham Knight "had the highest sales for a single SKU across any Batman game since NPD has been tracking industry." Based on Callahan's earlier statement regarding hardware bundles not counting toward overall sales, that's pretty impressive considering Sony and Warner Bros. offered a number of Arkham Knight PS4 bundles.
Developed by Rocksteady, Arkham Knight is the conclusion to the developer's critically acclaimed Batman Arkham trilogy, giving fans a look at "how the Batman died." You can check out our review of the game here.
