The Batman: Arkham Origins developer, WB Games Montreal, has updated their website with a call to animators, artists, developers, programmers and more to join their team and work on two unannounced AAA projects. The recruitment advertisement went on to detail that the developers are looking to expand the DC Comics universe with the yet to be revealed projects.
"Our world needs more superheroes!" said the developer in the recruitment ad. "We are a growing studio with two AAA projects in development focused on expanding the DC Comics universe in the interactive space."
While WB Montreal has yet to officially say which heroes their upcoming games will feature, it is speculated that one of the games will feature Superman and quite possibly the villain Braniac. This speculation stems from a mysterious post on Tumblr from earlier this year. The post revealed a GIF of Kal El, aka Superman in a 'New 52 Skin' and was featured alongside a post that WB Montreal was hiring for multiple positions for a DC Comics-focused game.
The GIF's reference to 'The New 52' is interesting. DC Comics launched The New 52 back in 2011 looking to "make their characters more modern and accessible," the comic also brought various changes to the DC Universe. The cover of The New 52 features Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash and Green Lantern, but the series itself went on to cover more than those heroes.
It will be interesting to see what direction WB Montreal goes with their mysterious DC Comics-based games. Batman v Superman and Wonder Woman films on the way it seems likely that the two games would feature Superman and Wonder Woman — Batman already had his moment.
