With plans to show off Battleborn in "a big way" at E3 this month, Gearbox and 2K appear to be drumming up some hype ahead of time. Over the past few weeks, the two have been dropping cryptic images in the Battleborne Twitter feed that cultimated today with a teaser for an impending announcement.
According to the image, some sort of announcement will be made on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at 8:00am EDT.
At this time, we have no idea what this announcement will be, but I'm willing to bet it'll be a lead in to E3 — maybe a short trailer or some gameplay footage, but nothing too major. Perhaps Gearbox is readying to announce the game's release date at E3, who knows. All we know for sure is that 2K parent-company Take-Two expects the game to release in the current fiscal year (ending March 31, 2016).
In addition to the announcement of the announcement, the final image of the cryptic Battleborn puzzle was tweeted out today. The June 4th date is clearly visible, but some of the other numbers are just flat out confusing. Maybe you can solve it.
Battleborn is easily one of this year's most intriguing titles, if only because we know very little about it. When originally announced, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford summed it up as a "FPS; hobby-grade coop campaign; genre-blended, multi-mode competitive e-sports; meta-growth, choice + epic Battleborn Heroes!"
15 minutes of cooperative gameplay was revealed in September of last year showing off the game's team-based approach in which you can choose to play as one of the vast number of unique characters offered. According to Gearbox, no two heroes play the same, and each has their own unique weapons, powers, and personalities that "can be fully experienced" in a cooperative campaign mission.
