The Battleborn open beta is upon us. Like with every major game releasing nowadays an open beta will come out to let gamers test the game for the developers to help them stress test servers and find bugs, or as most of us view open betas, a free demo of the game.
The Battleborn beta will let gamers test out a lot of things. All 25 heros will be available one way or another, some will be available instantly and some requires a bit of progression. Beta testers will be able to get a feel of the character progression system, unlocking skins, taunts, new heroes, Helix munitions, and more.
Two story episodes will be available, The Algorithm and Void’s Edge, letting players either go at them solo or with a team of 5.
Two multiplayer modes will also be testable, Incursion and Meltdown. In Incursion players have to destroy the other teams Spider Sentry Drones before the other team, and in Meltdown gamers will send waves of robotic minions into the incinerator to gain as much scrap as possible before, the team with the most scrap wins.
All of this can be done on splitscreen, both versus and the story modes.
The progression system works in three ways.
- Helix level: In normal matches, both story and versus, players has a MOBA style level that goes up to 10 where they get to pick different Helix upgrades and every level has two Helix upgrade choices. Players Helix levels rests when the match is over.
- Character Rank: Each character has it's own levels and they rank up as you play, from 1 to 15 and the ranks persist through all modes. The higher your character rank the more badass you become.
- Command Rank: This rank persist through all modes and character ranks. Everything you do adds up to your Command Rank, this is your profile level. As of now 100 Command Ranks exists.
With so much content available in the beta, Battleborn might just dethrone The Division from the beta throne.
Additionally, PS4 beta testers will receive the first Battleborn DLC Pack and instant access to the new hero Alani upon release. PS4 players will also have access to Battleborn hero Toby during the beta.
