Recently, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds developers discussed their plans to combat cheating in the game. PUBG Corp. employed the services of BattlEye, an anti-cheat solution used by many online video games. It would be an understatement to say that they’ve been hard at work.
Yesterday, BattlEye tweeted that they banned over 1,044,000 PUBG cheaters in January.
The team’s zealous work towards banning cheaters is impressive, to say the least, but as the game grows more and more in popularity, with Xbox One’s latest numbers pulling 3 million users, cheating, unfortunately, just keeps rising. That doesn’t even get close to the numbers on PC, which includes 3 million concurrent players at a time. While 1 million bans are impressive work, it still doesn’t approach the attachment rate of the game on both systems.
BattlEye was being used by PUBG in December as well, which was tallied to have 1,500,000 bans. While the game still holds strong in popularity, hopefully, the number of bans drops going forward as the bad eggs are weeded out.
On a more positive note, PUBG brought damage changes and optimization to the Xbox One version, while players also receive 30,000 Battle Points to celebrate 3 million users. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now for Xbox One and PC.
