Battlefield 1 beta performance analysis reveals Xbox One, PS4 miss out on 1080p

PC is the best.

The Battlefield 1 beta has shown off one map, two game modes, and how good people are at sniping across the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The question is, how does the game run across each platform and what is required to run the game better.

Let's go over what the beta offered first: The Sinai Desert map, which includes ground warfare, as well as dogfights above the desert.

Two modes:

Conquest:

  • An all-time fan favorite of Battlefield players, Conquest is a large-scale game mode with up to 64 players fighting for the control of key objectives. With large armies on foot or behind the wheel and the addition of fearsome Behemoths, Conquest brings together all the elements of the signature Battlefield All-Out War.

Rush:

  • A 24-player mode where the Attacking force must find and destroy the Defending force's Telegraph Posts, which can be used to call in artillery strikes. The Defenders can deny the Attackers their mission by disarming explosives they plant on the telegraph positions. Should the Telegraph Posts be destroyed, the Defenders must fall back to the next sector and protect the Telegraph Posts there.

Neither the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 version of Battlefield 1 hit 1080p. The Xbox One's resolution is 720p and the PS4's is 900p. The only platform that managed 1080p was the PC and that was with a 970 GPU, which maintained 60 FPS throughout all gameplay modes.

As expected, the game strives for 60FPS on all platforms, but dips to 45 FPS when Conquest mode adds the 64-player strain.

This is a breakdown of the beta's performance, which means that the final product could offer an altered experience. Check out the full breakdown below:

Battlefield 1 is set to release on October 21 2016, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
