In the past, Battlefield games have seen seasonal updates that brought new content, but with Battlefield 1 EA and DICE are planning on changing things up. Instead of seasonal updates, Battlefield 1 will be gifted with monthly updated, which will bring new features, content, and tweaks on a more regular basis.
While taking the time to detail the switch from seasonal to monthly updates, the developers detailed the coming Spring Update that will be adding "one of the most highly anticipated features: Platoons." With the addition of Platoons, players will be able to "organize and join forces."
As for May's monthly update, the developers will be focusing on bringing tweaks to their most criticized features. These tweaks include an update to the Rent-a-Server Program for Battlefield 1, as well as "streamlining the flow into matches (especially Operations) and improving many gameplay grievances that will hopefully make the action feel more balanced and fair."
Beyond the monthly and seasonal updates, there are expansions heading to Battlefield 1 that will bring new maps, weapons, vehicles, and game modes. The upcoming 'In The Name of the Tsar' expansion will bring us to the Eastern Front and have us fighting alongside the Russian army in frigid conditions.
