Battlefield 1 seems to be the next game to follow the recent trend of making DLC like map packs free for the players, well, at least the first one will be free.
Halo 5, Rocket League, and many more games are making their new multiplayer maps free for the players in a mostly successful attempt to not split the community. Battlefield 1 seems to at least partially be joining the trend.
According to the Origin listing for Battlefield 1, one of the pre-order bonuses is a "Seven day early access to a free map drop." While it is not explicitly stated, it is reasonable to assume that the rest of the player base will get the map pack for free after the seven day early access period.
Whether or not the rest of the DLC will be free has not been revealed. Battlefield 1 is set to launch worldwide on October 21.
