DICE and EA have revealed that Battlefield 2's Dragon Valley map will be getting remade for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC – but not on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The developers maintain that this doesn't mean they will no longer be supporting last-gen consoles any longer, the consoles simply don't fit into their ambitious visions for Dragon Valley 2015.
"We really wanted to push the envelope with Dragon Valley 2015, and that meant being able to make a bigger level, with a larger scale than anything currently in Battlefield 4," said DICE through a post on their website. "Because of that, we made the decision to focus on the more powerful platforms. This doesn't mean we're no longer supporting players on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with critical updates when needed, but we really wanted to try something big for Dragon Valley, and we think that when you play it, you'll see the difference."
The Dragon Valley remake will be a part of the free Battlefield 4 Legacy Operation DLC, which will be releasing alongside the Holiday Update later this year (they will be two separate downloads). Dragon Valley 2015 will have a number of expanded features like increased terrain for better draw distance, a dynamic cloud layer to add a "welcomed air-to-ground separation", and more flage in Conquest mode than any other Battlefield 4 map.
