Battlefield 5 gets War Stories Single Player Trailer

Epic and Emotional adventures

Dice has released a brand-new story trailer for the upcoming Battlefield 5. It’s a great teaser for the War Stories-style of telling multiple stories in one campaign. Originally, BF5 was set to release this Friday but the game was delayed a month in favor of polishing and adding enough content to the game, with Battlefield 5 now releasing on November 20th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Battlefield 5 really had a bad start ever since its reveal earlier this year in May. It was the “perfect” storm of a bad first impression, followed by flaming some disgruntled fans’ disdain further which led to BF5 having unusually low expectations by gamers. The controversy around BF5 started with the depiction of a female soldier with a prosthetic arm during the game’s reveal. A wave of criticism arose against developer Dice, stating that this was not historically acccurate and simply pandering towards political correctness. All this didn’t help Battlefield 5 in creating positive word.

Maybe it was EA wanting more time to convince gamers about Battlefield 5’s qualities, or maybe it was indeed to escape the sandwich of blockbusters BF5 found itself, but delaying the game also charged speculation of the game’s quality and even content.

All sad things which take focus off the actual good things Battlefield 5 is sporting. In a series-first, a battle royale mode will be included with Firestorm. Similar to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout, Firestorm could very well boost interest in this entry. A shame so much discussion is about non-game critical issues.

One big advantage Battlefield 5 has over its most direct competitor Black Ops 4, is the inclusion of a traditional single-player campaign. It doesn’t look like going without one hurt this year’s Call of Duty but still, fans of blockbuster AAA first-person shooter campaigns really only have Battlefield 5 to look out for.

We’ll see how Dice’s approach of a telling a multi-faceted story with the continuation of War Stories will be received by fans in a month.
