An update to EA's Battlelog site has spurred a ton of leaked content regarding the next Battlefield game. Reportedly titled Battlefield: Hardline, the new game, believed to be in development at Visceral Games, appears to be police/robber spin-off of the military shooter series. Information pulled from the publicly available code and compiled by NeoGAF sheds new light on the currently unannounced shooter.
For starters, artwork for Battlefield: Hardline reveals the game will be cross-gen, coming to Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. "BH+" icons presumably indicate that Hardline will also operate with a Premium subscription service similar to that of BF3 and BF4.
In terms of gameplay, four soldier classes (Enforcer, Mechanic, Operator, Professional) were leaked along with new game modes (Blood Money, Heist, Bomb Squad, Carrier Assault). The Heist and Blood Money game modes are expected to be among the first to be revealed by EA at next month's E3.
Over on GAF, you can find a compilation of ribbons, rankings, weapons, and attachment unlocks that are believed to be in the game. Among the items listed are blowtorches, grappling hooks, gas grenades, gas masks, and tons more. There's also a look at some of the alleged vehicles in the game.
At this point, none of the information regarding Battlefield: Hardline has been confirmed or even acknowledged by Electronic Arts, but it's possible that, if true, we could be looking forward to a full reveal of the game at E3 next month. A new Battlefield game could fit quite nicely into the gaping hole left open in EA's release schedule for fall 2014. Of course, if a new Battlefield game arrives this year, that means we probably won't be getting a new Star Wars Battlefront until 2015.
