Battles rage in Guild Wars 2 content update Flame and Frost: The Gathering Storm

The second installment of a four-part series, Guild Wars 2 will be adding its second content update, Flame and Frost: The Gathering Storm, on February 26. The announcement was made on the game's official website, including new features of the update. The stakes are raised and battles rage in the foothills of Shiverpeaks. The story continues:

The situation worsens for the citizens of Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau. Volunteers have eased the burden, but more refugees hobble down from the Shiverpeaks. The storm there gains momentum, but the forces of good are beginning to rally. They’re sending their heroes to defend the land and its peoples. Someone must hold back the gathering storm.

In addition to a new selectable achievement system where you'll set new daily challenges for yourself and choose what kind of content you want to be rewarded, there are new features for PvP and guild missions.

New PvP Map

Spirit Watch is the name of a brand-new PvP map in this content update. Nestled between cliffside shrines to the norn Spirits of the Wild, this peaceful green vale will have players score bonus points by capturing the Orb of Ascension and run it to any of the three shrines on the map. Sounds like Huttball from SWTOR.

Guild Missions

There's a new category of content for guild members to take on. Designed for coordinated group play, these missions include everything from bounties to group puzzles to cross-country challenges. You will earn new Guild Merits, which unlock upgrades and rewards for the guild.

Two team rated play in PvP

A new type of competitive PvP, two teams of equal average rating will fight each other in a quick, intense match. The ratings for every member of each team is then adjusted after the match.
