The good folks over at Bethesda have unveiled a brand-new premium service plan for enthusiast Fallout 76 players. Fallout 1st is the name of the monthly subscription which will give users a whole laundry list of great features, chief among the ability to create and play in private worlds.

You might have forgotten about last year’s Fallout 76 already, and we wouldn’t exactly blame you. The game created an insane amount of hype prior to its release due to it being the first time gamers could experience Bethesda’s signature nuclear post-apocalypse together with and against other players. Sadly, the final product turned out way below expectations and Fallout 76 became a topic for memes. A shame really, as with enough changes and improvements, the game could easily become what fans wanted it to be in the first place. Bethesda themselves quickly recognized this as well and promised to make significant changes according to player feedback. A great move to win back hearts.

Today’s announcement of Fallout 1st is quickly turning the sentiment however as it is being received as a cash grab among vocal internet users. The premium subscription is anything but cheap with an asking price of $12 a month or $99 a year. When you consider how many games one can play by investing that money rather into Xbox Game Pass and the likes, the features that it offers become even less exciting. Here’s what Fallout 1st is offering.

These are all great features, especially private worlds, but the asking price could very well sour the deal for a great number of players.

The timing by Bethesda couldn’t have come at a worse time as well. With Obsidian’s spiritual successor coming out in just two days and already sweeping gaming discussions with glowing reviews, the Fallout brand sure is getting the toughest competition in quite a while.
