Be wary of fake Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta sites

Over the weekend, a fake Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 website popped up claiming to have 300 "100 percent functional" beta keys for the next installment of Activision's long-running series. The site asked users to share a link to their site on their Facebook page, and other social networking sites, to receive a beta code. As tempting as it may be, it won't work. The website is fake and has since been shut down after numerous outlets picked up on the scam.

It's important to realize, though, that this type of scam will occur more frequently as we get closer to the next Call of Duty game. Although Activision has already confirmed a new Call of Duty game will arrive in 2013, it has not yet announced what it will be titled. However, last year Captain Price voice actor Billy Murray supposedly revealed he was doing some work on a sequel to Modern Warfare 3 — a rumor which Activision later claimed to be false.

Moral of the story: even when Activision does announce the next Call of Duty game, don't fall for these fake scam sites.
