The tale of Beetlejuice 2 is slightly complicated, the movie goes from being in development to not being in development to not ever having been in development to possibly having almost been in development.
Over the past few years, both Winona Ryder and screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith promised the Beetlejuice 2 was happening. Then, Michael Keaton, Beetlejuice himself, said the ship might have sailed. Ultimately, it came down to Tim Burton saying that it's only something he would direct if the circumstances were right… Even though he already had said it wasn't happening.
Now, we are back to the film possibly happening.
According to Deadline, Beetlejuice 2 is currently being rewritten by Mike Vukadinovish, whose more recent film work, Rememory, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was subsequently acquired by Lionsgate. Vukadinovish also worked on the upcoming season of Marvel's Runaways.
Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions are set to act as producers.
