Ben Affleck confirms he’s directing ‘The Batman’; begs for patience from fans

Leave the man alone!

Ben Affleck has had a hell of a year. He kicked off 2016 with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, filmed Justice League, released The Accountant, and is moving into 2017 with his new movie, Live By Night (which he directed, wrote, and starred in). Although Live By Night looks pretty awesome, people are way more interested in his superhero film, The Batman.

Pretty much all of 2016 saw Affleck get bombarded with questions about his take on Batman (which he will also be directing, writing, and starring in). The movie is in early stages of development, and there isn't even a finished script yet! People are desperate to know when he'll release this movie, and it sounds like it could be a while.

Affleck was asked on Jimmy Kimmel last night on his role in making the movie as he recently said "it's not a set thing" when speaking about the film. He officially confirmed he's directing the movie, but you could tell he's pretty annoyed with all the questions about the movie.

“I’m gonna direct the next Batman, we’re workin’ on it. It’s one of those things that’s really frustrating because like with Live by Night, it took me a year and a half to write it and get it ready and I worked really hard, it’s just nobody gave a shit. No one was like ‘Where’s Live by Night?!’ But with Batman I keep getting the like, ‘Where’s the fucking Batman?!’ and I’m like ‘Bro I’m workin’, give me a second!”

It's understandable why he might be a tad annoyed because no one wants to talk about the movie he's releasing right now and would rather talk about Batman. Cast members on The Batman have said it'll begin shooting this spring or summer, but it's unclear if that's actually going to happen.

Ben Affleck said some similar things in an interview with IGN where he talked about where the script was at. He seems to think it has some awesome stuff right now, but he wants it to get better and better.

"It's the same thing with any other movie. I'm excited about it, we're working on the script, when we get there, we're gonna make it. There's great stuff in it now, it just needs to get better and better. It was the same thing for [Live By Night] but nobody was asking me questions because nobody gave a shit but it took me a year plus to get this movie ready for launch. Hopefully, it won't take me that long for Batman, we're ahead of the curve and we're excited."

Ben Affleck's new film, Live By Night, hits theaters this Friday and will return as Batman in Justice League on November 17th, 2017.
