If you're like me, when you read that Star Trek Online is celebrating its three-year anniversary, you probably thought: holy crap, it's been three years?! That is indeed the case. The sci-fi MMO that's part space combat, part planetary away mission launched in February 2010 and switched to free-to-play in January of 2012.
Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment are celebrating the three-year anniversary by hosting a series of in-game events for players to participate in. Part of the celebration includes a special anniversary episode starring Denise Crosby (Lt. Tasha Yar from Star Trek: The Next Generation) in which Captains are being invited to experience. The episode will be called "Temporal Ambassador." The character Q will also be hosting an event where players will be able to earn in-game rewards.
Daniel Stahl, Executive Producer at Cryptic Studios, said, "We've come a long way since Star Trek Online first launched in February 2010. Since then, I've had the pleasure to serve alongside one of the most talented development teams in the industry. Moving forward, the mission will remain the same: Star Trek Online is a game built by Star Trek fans, for Star Trek fans — and we will continue to bring the universe we love so much to life."
