EA Sports has announced details for the beta of NHL 16. It will be the first beta in the franchise's history and In preparation for its release September 15th, EA will be making the beta available to all owners of NHL 15 on Xbox One and PS4. If you own the game, simply play it on July 30th and a new menu option will be available to download the beta. There will be a one week window for the beta ranging from Juy 30th through August 6th, which is a pretty decent time period compared to games of other franchises. NHL 15 will be required to download the beta initially, but may be deleted afterwards as the game will fire up from your hard drive.
Owners of the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions of the game will have a chance of getting an invite from EA only if they've already upgraded to a PS4 or Xbox One. If you have, random emails will go out to your connected origin account on July 30th only so be sure to check that inbox. If you haven't done so already, be sure to opt in to email alerts from Origin so you may receive the invite if its sent to you.
The beta will focus on the Online Team mode in NHL 16 that has been changed to better reflect the skills of its players in determining wins and losses. The beta is available exclusively on current generation consoles and NHL 16 is set to launch on September 15th, 2015. Of course, Xbox One users will get to play 5 days early via EA Access.
