As Fallout 4 enters its final phase of development, Bethesda has decided to include us in their plans for how they will support the game after it launches. It looks like the team took Skyrim's lessons to heart, Fallout 4's support falls directly in line with how they handled their previous hit.
After Fallout 4 releases Bethesda will be bringing a mix of updates and fixes to Fallout through regular updates. In Skyrim, Bethesda brought new features like mounted combat, legendary mode, kill cams, visual enhancements and more. Bethesda plans on doing the same for Fallout 4, based on the features players request.
When it comes to mods, the Creation Kit will be hitting the PC "early next year" and will allow modders to share their creations with other PC players, as well as Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players.
Now, Bethesda won't be handling DLC like CD Projekt Red did with The Witcher 3 (they had 16 sets of free DLC and two 10+ paid expansions). Fallout 4 will feature a Season pass priced at $30. As to what they DLC is… the developers don't know what it will be yet; they haven't been working on it since they're currently focused on the actual game. Bethesda looked at what they did with Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, and realized that their $30 price tag would be more than worth it – because they think it could be worth $10 more, but they love you so they kept the $30 price.
