Bethesda details issue with Fallout 4’s Xbox One digital pre-orders

Frustration could surround the upcoming launch of Fallout 4 as Bethesda claimed that the game might require players to re-download the game before being able to play.

The game's developers issued a new forum post today insisting that all pre-orders made before, or even on the day of October 27th could be affected, due to the orders not being associated with correct stub file.

If you did pre-order Fallout 4 in this timeframe, or have an inkling that you might have, we would advise you to at least check it out. Reason being, many gamers will be required to delete and redownload the game – something that might be of inconvenience on the day of release.

On the other hand, Xbox One does offer the Instant On power mode, in which case the machine itself will have spotted the issue and made the necessary update automatically.

Bethesda wrote: "We know you're ready for Fallout 4 on November 10th, and for those that digitally pre-ordered on Xbox One, we want to make sure you're ready to jump in right away," Bethesda wrote.

"If you've digitally pre-ordered the game on Xbox One on or before 10/27 and are NOT using Instant On power mode, you may still have an incorrect 'stub file' for the title, which is simply a placeholder file. Players that have this particular version of the stub file will be required to delete it, and reinstall the title."

Fallout 4 will hit shelves across the world on November 10th with many expecting the game to be one of the, biggest game launches of 2015.
