Bethesda’s Fallout Shelter playable on Windows 10 Mobile with these steps

User finds way to hack Android version of Fallout Shelter onto Windows 10 Mobile

Bethesda's mobile hit Fallout Shelter finally released on Android devices yesterday, and left in the dust were Windows Phone owners. Or were they?

A clever Redditor has managed to sideload the Android version of the game onto his Windows 10 mobile device using existing tools. For many, the missing obb resource file causes the sideload to fail, but turns out you can copy the obb file into the correct directory with the following steps:

On your PC

  1. Download the package from Google Play using the available tools.
  2. Create a short cut to C: on your PC.
  3. Install the apk using adb.
  4. Copy the com.bethsoft.falloutshelter directory which is in the download package and the shortcut created earlier to your phone’s public directory over USB.

On your phone:

  1. Navigate to your C:DataUsersPublic directory on your phone using the file explorer.
  2. Click on your short cut to navigate to C:
  3. Navigate back to C:DataUsersPublic
  4. Move the com.bethsoft.falloutshelter directory containing the obb file to C:DataUsersDefAppsAPPDATALocalAowmntshellemulatedAndroidobb

Unfortunately, because I own a real phone I've been unable to try this method, but it appears to play fine if you don't mind the notifications about Google Play services being missing.
