While Electronic Arts is ditching E3 this year, Bethesda has just confirmed its return to the industry show.
The Fallout publisher sent out a save the date today, confirming its E3 showcase (press briefing, whatever you want to call it) for Sunday, June 12th at 7:00pm.
No further details were provided, which means we can now go ahead and guess what games will be shown. I'm predicting Fallout 4 DLC, more Dishonored 2, perhaps some Battlecry (remember that one?) and maybe a surprise or two — possible a new Elder Scrolls!?
Maybe we should analyze the teaser for potential clues. After all, last year's E3 invite from Bethesda did seemingly tease Fallout 4 which, as you know, was revealed just before the show. Bethesda went on to show us the world premiere gameplay of Fallout 4 during its E3 briefing. So it's not unreasonable to expect some sort of surprise announcement this year.
Bethesda's first-ever E3 briefing last year was also held on Sunday evening, which, before last year, didn't typically include any other briefings. This year, however, Electronic Arts will forgo its traditional Monday spot as part of its own initiative — EA Play, the publisher's own sort-of mini-event prior to E3 (June 12-14). EA Play is being catered more towards consumers and will allow fans to test out some of EA's biggest games. EA is still hosting a press briefing, but it will also be on Sunday, June 12th.
Assuming no other surprise announcements are made, we can expect the E3 press briefing calendar to look like this:
Sunday, June 12
Monday, June 13
Tuesday, June 14
As someone who regularly attends these E3 press briefings, EA's shift to Sunday makes things a bit less crowded on Monday, which my stomach certainly appreciates (I can finally eat lunch now!). Plus, three days of exciting announcements is way better than just two. Of course, plans could change as we get closer to the event. E3 is scheduled will take place in Los Angeles from June 14-16.
In the meantime, what are you hoping to see from Bethesda at E3 this year?
