In 2014, one of the founding fathers of the FPS genre made its ultimate comeback with Wolfenstein: The New Order. It was a self-aware, nazi murdering bloodbath with some of the best gameplay a shooter has seen in years. It was a joy to play and ever since then, players have been wondering when they can get more.
At E3 2016, a small easter egg was hidden in a trailer for Quake Champions which teased a new Wolfenstein game titled New Colossus. Bethesda hasn't officially said much about the game but marketing executive Pete Hines confirmed on the Kinda Funny Gamescast that he's played MachineGames' next title.
“MachineGames has been hard at work on something, which I can tell you I have played,” Hines said. “It is f**king bananas. And I can’t wait to show what it actually is.”
Although he isn't saying it's Wolfenstein, it's hard to imagine it's anything else after the massive success the game achieved.
Some voice actors attached to The New Order have said that they're working on something Wolfenstein related but didn't give too much away. Folks at MachineGames have even expressed interest in developing a sequel and said they know where they would take the series next if given the chance.
It's likely we'll hear about whatever MachineGames is working at this year's E3 this summer.
