Bethesda sues Warner Bros. for using Fallout Shelter code in Westworld game

According to TMZ, Bethesda is suing Warner Bros. and developer Behaviour Interactive for allegedly using designs, art, and code from Fallout Shelter in a mobile game tie-in for the HBO show, Westworld.

Court documents have revealed that Behaviour Interactive was contracted by Bethesda to work on Fallout Shelter in 2014, once things wrapped up there they went to work on a Westworld mobile game for Warner Bros.

Both games share similarities to each other both through gameplay and visual presentation but one could just chalk it up to the style of Behaviour Interactive’s games. However, Bethesda says they know Behaviour used code from Fallout Shelter because Westworld features bugs that were present in early versions of the mobile Fallout title.

Bethesda is seeking compensation through a cut of the profits and by having the Westworld game shut down. These things take a while to unravel in our legal system so it’ll likely be a bit before we get any actual verdict but we’ll continue to keep you updated as this story develops.

Fallout Shelter is out now on mobile devices, Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
