Bethesda working to get classic Fallout games back on Steam

If all goes well, the three classic Fallout games, which were disabled from purchasing on Steam and removed entirely from GOG.com (Good Old Games), will soon return.

For those unfamiliar, at the start of the New Year, Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics were pulled from the digital storefronts as a result of a legal battle between Bethesda Softworks, developers of the Elder Scrolls series and current Fallout rightsholders, and Interplay Entertainment, publisher of all Fallout games released before 2008.  Bethesda was eventually rewarded full control of the Fallout franchise, but Interplay could continue selling the first three games until December 31, 2013.

According to Bethesda Softworks, they are working on bringing the three games back, but to Steam only for now. When asked about their return to GOG, the company said that their "priority right now is returning the games to Steam at the earliest date possible." The good news is that those who already own the game through GOG shouldn't be affected by this whole ordeal. It only matters if you are trying to purchase the games at this very second.
