Both the Xbox One and PS4 Editions of Minecraft have a big update in the works aimed at fixing bugs and other issues discovered by players since the game's next-gen release.
Following yesterday's release of a small update which fixed some stats issues and the bug causing black holes in the worlds, 4J revealed plans for a "bigger" update which is currently already underway.

At this point we don't know when the console developer plans to release the update, but we'll be sure to keep up with any further updates. In the meantime, Minecraft: PS3 Edition also received a small update today, enabling world transfer saves from the PS3 to the PS4. You can find directions on how to do so here.
On a somewhat related note, Microsoft announced this week plans to acquire Mojang and the Minecraft franchise for $2.5 billion. Despite the Xbox platform-holder owning the IP, Microsoft still plans to continue making Minecraft available on PlayStation, iOS, and Android platforms.
