You YoVille players sure are a passionate bunch. If I learned anything earlier this year, when it was announced that Zynga had planned to shut down the browser-based virtual world brought to us by Big Viking Games, it's that the world of casual gaming was a lot more hardcore than I'd ever imagined. The passion expressed by you, the fans, was overwhelming — I'm sure the comments you shared on our site was just a fraction of the response Zynga must have received. And in the end, it was you that helped keep YoVille alive while Big Viking Games attempts to work out a deal to purchase the game back from Zynga.
Here's the thing though, it's getting to be a little much — even for Big Viking Games who yesterday posted a small request to put an end to the barrage of YoVille comments.
"We understand that everyone is getting antsy over YoVille, but please keep in mind that we have an existing roster of games that includes FishWorld, Dark Heroes, Tiny Kingdoms and Monsters & Dungeons," Big Viking Games began in a Facebook post.
"Our teams put a lot of work, passion and creativity into these games, and we think they deserve kudos for it. So going forward, please think twice before commenting about YoVille on posts about our games, employee celebrations, etc. We think our colleagues are fabulous and deserve a post here and there!"
The message continued: "It's important to understand that when we post shots of our office, events, or other games and initiatives that it's not taking any attention, resources or time away from YoVille. It doesn't mean that nothing is happening, that we've forgotten about you, or that progress isn't being made."
"We love to see passionate fans, we know that you want answers, that you feel that things are up in the air, and that some of you feel in the dark. We are gently asking for just a bit more patience, and promise to update you when we are able to," Big Viking Games concluded. "Thanks again for your patience and for all of your support, it's very, very appreciated."
It's one thing to show support for a game you love, but I think it's another thing entirely to constantly spam Big Viking Games' Facebook page with repetitive comments. I have no doubt that Big Viking Games is doing everything possible to keep YoVille alive, so please, PLEASE, stop spamming their Facebook page.
