Here's a shocker, BioShock Infinite has been delayed…yet again. Previously due out in February 2013, the game has been pushed back a month to March 2013.
Irrational Games boss Ken Levine told a crowded press room that the delay will allow for extra polish and bug fixing. BioShock Infinite's new release date is March 26, 2013.
“When Rod Fergusson [former Gears of War franchise director at Epic Games] came on board we looked at the game,” Levine said. “He was there for about a month and he said, 'look, I've been looking at the schedule and looking at the game and frankly you could really benefit from another three or four more weeks for polish and bug fixing.'
“We talked about it. I knew I'd probably get beat up in the press a little bit about it. But at the end of the day, if it's going to make a better game we're going to do it."
“So the new date is March 26," Levin revealed. "That's my bad news.”
This is the second delay BioShock Infinite has revealed. Its original release date was October 2012; however, back in May 2012, Irrational Games announced the very first delay.
Before we get all up in arms over the delay, we're really only talking one month. It's not like Irrational Games is trying to cover for anything. At the press event we played the game, so we can attest that it is real. If it takes another month for Irrational to produce the best game possible, then I'm ok with it.
