BioWare: Citadel will be the last single player DLC for Mass Effect 3

The newly announced Mass Effect 3: Citadel DLC will be the final single player content pack for Mass Effect 3, BioWare confirmed today. This means that our time with Commander Shepard our is drawing to a close — a sad, but inevitable realization. As the final chapter, Citadel aims to give fans "fans one final, sentimental journey with Commander Shepard and their squad."

Not much was detailed about the new content pack except that it will take you to "new locations across the vast, deep-space station while also having the opportunity to reconnect with some of their favorite characters from all three of the Mass Effect games." It's a pretty generic description that doesn't give us much insight into what we should expect. Although you get the idea that it will be emotional, especially being Shepard's going out party.

"The team has poured heart and soul into Mass Effect 3: Citadel. As the launch of these chapters near, the feeling around the studio is bittersweet," said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. "We have always been humbled and driven by the passion of our fans for the Mass Effect trilogy. We hope fans will enjoy spending more time with some of their favorite characters — we have certainly enjoyed spending time creating them. We're excited to release this final sendoff for the trilogy and move forward into the future of the Mass Effect universe."

Mass Effect 3: Citadel will be available on March 5 for $14.99, or 1200 MS Points. Moving forward, BioWare and EA will continue to release new entries into the Mass Effect franchise, though Commander Shepard will not be featured in them. At this point, BioWare has not yet decided if the next Mass Effect game will be a prequel or a sequel to the current trilogy.
