Developer Gaijin Games plans to self-publish Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, the HD sequel to Bit.Trip Runner (originally released on Nintendo's WiiWare service), as a downloadable title on the Wii U.
Alex Neuse, who co-founded the company with Mike Roush in 2007, said that "after announcing Runner 2 for XBLA and PSN, we got so much incredible hate mail from our Nintendo fan base that we had to release this game for Wii U under fear of death!"
The game will feature a new art style and music by chiptune artist Disasterpeace. Playable characters include CommandgirlVideo, Unkle Dill, and Whetfahrt Cheesebörger.
Runner 2 contains five worlds, 100 levels, over 10 new gameplay abilities, three difficulty modes, unlockable costumes, and more. It will also support the GamePad.
