If you have Netflix, I suggest watching a show called Black Mirror. Charlie Booker's anthology series has seven episodes, six of which are on Netflix, and it's some of the most intense, heart-breaking, and revealing story telling I've ever watched.
Black Mirror two three-episode seasons and a Christmas Special with Jon Hamm aired in the UK from 2011 to 2014. Now, Netflix has agreed to produce a 12-episode third season with Charlie Booker and Annabel Jones continuing to produce. Production is scheduled to begin in late 2015.
"It's all very exciting — a whole new bunch of Black Mirror episodes on the most fitting platform imaginable. Netflix connects us with a global audience so that we can create bigger, stranger, more international and diverse stories than before, whilst maintaining that Black Mirror feel. I just hope none of these new story ideas come true," said Booker.
Black Mirror features stand-alone episodes that all focus on the consequences of the possible future technology could lead us to. It's a dark show, with very little good happening. But it's insanely captivating and really makes you think about what the future has in store for us. Each episode has a different cast and setting, but you see references to something from every episode in the Christmas special, indicating that they could all be part of the same universe.
