Love it or hate it, Call of Duty Elite is here to say. While Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia didn't go into the gritty details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 multiplayer, he did confirm it will have "real deep integration" with Call of Duty Elite, Activision's social network-like system introduced with Modern Warfare 3.
"As far as it goes on the Elite front, you can expect some real deep integration inside of Black Ops 2," Lamia promised on Roll Call. "I just want to say 'thank you' to everyone on Elite for all of your support, your community, it means a lot here at Treyarch. We're looking forward to sharing with you what we're working on."
The Call of Duty Elite service was introduced with Modern Warfare 3 as sort of an online community outlet for the game's multiplayer. The service features lifetime statistics across multiple games as well as a multitude of social-networking options. As of January 31, 2012, more than seven million gamers registered for the Elite service, with more than 1.5 million opting for the premium annual memberships. With numbers like those, would you expect Activision to abandon the service?
As for multiplayer details, Lamia said they were "coming soon".
"We are really pushing the boundaries for multiplayer," he added. "We're not revealing all of that right now because it's its own reveal. We know that there's a lot of you guys out there who are even still playing Black Ops. We're paying attention and we're seeing what's going on in the community, and the guys are at all of our systems. We can't wait to tell you all about what we've been designing in Black Ops 2 for you guys."
