Blaster Master Zero: The Return of a Classic

Blaster Master was a classic NES game where players controlled a character driving a tank. That character could get out of the tank for more minute controls. With a mix of classic Metroid and Zelda controls (Side scrolling and top-down for different areas of the game), this game finally gets a sequel in 2017.

Here's the original game's premise:

"Many kinds of creatures once coexisted on this verdant planet, but after countless wars and untold environmental destruction, the planet was plunged into an ice age, and humanity was left with no choice but to migrate en masse underground.  When the ice age finally came to an end, humanity begin developing methods while they were living underground to one day restore their planet to the lush green landscape it once was. During this time, a large mysterious comet fell to the earth, but the progress of restoring their lost ecosystem was coming along well, and humanity was eventually able to live on the surface once again."

Convoluted and silly? That's what the NES days were all about. But now there's a new addition to the series in  Blaster Master Zero. Retaining the original art style, Blaster Master Zero is a bit more than more of the same.

Blaster Master Zero stars a new protagonist, a new tank, and a new story. New weapons, including a chargeable blaster a la Megaman. Perhaps the most exciting addition is multiplayer.

More details and cameos for the game were teased during the Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase, but more information was promised in the near future,
