Fighting game series BlazBlue is getting turned into a visual novel this summer.
Publisher Aksys Games announced today that it's bringing the visual novel XBlaze Code: Embryo to North America later this year for PlayStation 3 and Vita. Set 150 years prior to the events of BlazBlue, the prequel follows high school student Touya Kagari, who's thrust into a supernatural world of magic under the protection of a girl named Es.
XBlaze Code uses the “TOi” system, which presents information about Touya's surroundings and changes the story's course depending on what players choose to read. The game features a number of endings (including a gag ending) and possible paths.
Series developer Arc System Works created the spin-off. Aksys has published visual novels such as 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors and Sweet Fuse: At Your Side.
Aksys has not listed a price or divulged whether the title will be a cross-buy purchase.
