Blizzard addresses World of Warcraft realm stability and confirms DDoS attack

Blizzard announced at 9pm PST last night that World of Warcraft will be down for maintenance starting at 5am PST/8am EST today. The reason for the maintenance is to address issues with stability, and they expect the game to be down four hours for maintenance.

There has been long wait times and service issues on North American realms.

Community manager Bashiok explained in the WoW forums that despite some of their attempts to ease the initial rush into the new expansion, "we ran into a few other issues, including a distributed denial of service attack, that resulted in increased latency."

We'll update you when maintenance is finished and see if everything is better.

Until then, check out our World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor Review in Progress.
